Gerard Hempstead – Managing Partner (MP):

- Prior Experience: Gerard began his career as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) before joining Northwestern Mutual, where he has built a long-standing and impactful career in leadership.
- Passionate About: Gerard is deeply passionate about his faith, family, and giving back to the community. He also enjoys traveling and playing golf, and values building meaningful relationships both personally and professionally.
Aaron Hatcher – Growth and Development Director (GDD):
- Time with NM: Since 2019.
- Prior Experience: Aaron joined Northwestern Mutual as an intern in 2019 while attending the University of Missouri–St. Louis, where he majored in Finance. He quickly distinguished himself as a top-performing intern, ranking #1 in the Southern Region and at Winter Camp. He transitioned to a full-time Financial Advisor later that year and achieved Pacesetter 40 within his first six months. Aaron is currently pursuing his Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation and founded Aeon Financial within Northwestern Mutual to deliver a more personalized, client-first approach.
- Passionate About: Aaron is passionate about empowering individuals and families to build wealth and achieve financial independence. Outside of work, he is dedicated to mentoring youth in his community, teaching and writing music for local high school band students, and staying active. He enjoys playing golf, watching sports (especially as a New York Knicks fan), playing the drums, and giving back through mentorship.
Will Smith – Growth & Development Director (GDD):
- Time with NM: Since January 2025.
- Prior Experience: Will brings a diverse background across business ownership, education, and corporate roles. He has experience leading operations, managing client relationships, developing programs, and supporting organizational initiatives in fast-paced, performance-driven environments. He founded and managed a successful DJ entertainment company, overseeing operations, client relations, marketing, and financial management.
- Passionate About: Will is passionate about helping professionals, families, companies, and banks make informed financial decisions that lead to long-term, generational impact. He is committed to educating others on what’s possible and guiding them to take meaningful action through a genuine, transparent, and relationship-driven approach.
About the Role: As a Financial Planner at Northwestern Mutual, you will be part of a team that helps individuals and businesses achieve their financial goals through personalized insurance solutions and financial planning. Your role involves building long-term relationships with clients, understanding their unique needs, and providing tailored financial solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Consultation: Engage with clients to understand their financial goals, aspirations, and concerns.
- Financial Planning: Develop comprehensive financial plans that include investments, insurance, and retirement.
- Insurance Solutions: Recommend and implement insurance strategies to protect clients' assets and income.
- Ongoing Support: Monitor clients' financial plans and provide regular updates, adjusting strategies as needed to meet changing circumstances.
- Networking: Build and maintain a network of clients through referrals, community involvement, and professional associations.
Qualifications:
- Education: A bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field.
- Experience: Previous experience in financial services, insurance or business development is beneficial but not required.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, analytical thinking, and the ability to build trust and rapport with clients.
- Licenses: Obtain necessary licenses, such as Series 6, 63, and state insurance licenses (training and sponsorship available).
