- How long with NM? Started in 2022
- Prior Experience? Graduated from Colorado Christian University and interned with Northwestern Mutual. She then spent time in higher education and human resources before working for 8 years as an executive director of a crisis intervention nonprofit in New Mexico.
- Passionate About? Carla enjoys spending time with her three kids, working out, and staying active. She was previously involved in CrossFit but now loves attending workout classes or using her home gym. Carla is very active in the Down syndrome community and serves as the Vice President of GiGi's Playhouse in Charlotte.
Stephen Machanic - Financial Advisor
- How long with NM? Started in 2015.
- Prior Experience? A graduate of Appalachian State University, Stephen played outside linebacker there before interning with Northwestern Mutual during his final semester. He started full-time after graduation.
- Passionate About? Stephen lives in Charlotte with his wife, Alexis, and their golden retriever, Reagan. He enjoys golfing, shooting sporting clays, and staying active with the 6 a.m. crew at Ultimate Athlete in Lake Norman. An advocate for North Carolina's wildlife, he’s a Lifetime Member of the NC Wildlife Resources Commission. Stephen is also passionate about App State and the Carolina Panthers and has helped connect Appalachian State alumni in Charlotte.
Tyler Clary - Financial Advisor
- How long with NM? Started in 2021
- Prior Experience? Tyler was a professional swimmer who represented the United States at the highest levels, including the Olympics. He also has experience in business development before transitioning to financial advising.
- Passionate About? Tyler brings a disciplined, strategic approach to wealth management, shaped by his background in elite sports. He’s passionate about helping clients build and achieve their financial goals. Outside of work, Tyler is dedicated to mentoring young athletes and giving back to the community through local philanthropic efforts.
Deidra Willis - Wealth Management Advisor
- How long with NM? Started in 2012
- Prior Experience? Deidra spent 8 years in business development before joining Northwestern Mutual. She is a graduate of Mississippi State University with a degree in Banking and Finance.
- Passionate About? Deidra is known for her ability to connect with people and bring them together. She is involved in the community through various service organizations, including her church and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Deidra is on the board of WEE (Women Embracing Excellence) and the Career Mastered Magazine Executive Advisory Board. She enjoys working out, traveling, and spending quality time with her family and friends.
Key Responsibilities: As a Client Advisor, your primary role will be to engage with clients to understand their comprehensive financial needs, providing personalized guidance to help them achieve their financial protection and planning goals. You will design and implement tailored strategies that safeguard clients' assets, income, and overall financial well-being, ensuring their long-term security. Regularly reviewing and updating clients' financial plans and insurance policies to reflect any changes in their circumstances or goals will be crucial to ensure continuous protection. Additionally, you will cultivate a robust network of clients through referrals, active community involvement, and professional associations.
Qualifications: We prefer candidates with a bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related discipline. While prior experience in insurance, financial services, or business development is beneficial, it is not mandatory. Successful candidates will possess excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, strong analytical skills, and the capability to build lasting client relationships. We welcome individuals from business development-oriented organizations with uncapped earnings potential, including those from Medical Device, Education (teachers, administrators), Logistics, Solar, Payroll Services, Tech Business Development, Real Estate, Auto Rental and others. You will be required to obtain state insurance licenses, with training provided and sponsorship considered.
